Ford Wows The Crowds At Frankfurt Motor Show

The Ford Motor Company made a huge splash at the Frankfurt Motor Show this week. With its largest-ever European display, Ford showed off new vehicles and innovative new technologies.

Giving a sneak peek into future Ford designs and technology was the Evos Concept. The vehicle incorporates the brand’s new design DNA as well as a new generation of driver interaction and awareness currently under development. Seamless connectivity between the vehicle and the driver’s ‘personal cloud’ of information is at the heart of the vision for its capabilities.

“We wanted the Ford Evos Concept to give a clear message about where Ford design is heading – shaping vehicles that are fun to drive, have a strong premium appeal, and above all, are stunningly beautiful,” said J Mays, group vice president, Design and chief creative officer.

Ford also showcased its smallest EcoBoost engine yet, a 1.0-liter three-cylinder unit. Despite its small size, it delivers power and performance to rival a traditional 1.6-liter gas engine while emitting less than 120g/km CO2 in the Focus.

“By offering the Focus with an advanced 1.0-litre petrol engine Ford is not only making a major statement on how serious we are about engine downsizing – it also shows the strength of our development and engineering capabilities. To produce a 1.0-litre petrol engine with such impressive performance and fuel economy is a clear example of our commitment to be class-leading in fuel economy,” added Graham Hoare, executive director, Powertrain, Ford of Europe.
