Third place last month went to the Ford Fusion, which sold 19,912 units. It represents a 12.8 percent increase from November 2010, and makes it the third most popular model that wears a blue oval. The Fusion has had a good year: it’s up 15.2 percent year-to-date (Fusion sold 226,445 units for the year). | It’s also good enough to handily beat all of its American competitors. It sold 9643 more units than the Chevrolet Malibu. The Malibu, which came in sixth on our list, sold 10,269 units last month, down 11.9 percent from November 2010. The sedan is up only 2.4 percent in year-to-date sales: Chevy sold 191,774 copies so far this year.
Chrysler’s showing last month may not look stellar on first glance, but it actually spells success for the automaker. Its 200 sedan came in eighth, selling 8065 units, while its Avenger sold 5643 units last month. While those numbers seem low, they represent massive increases for each nameplate. In November, the 200 was up 496 percent compared to the Sebring sedan it replaced, and it’s up 109 percent over the Sebring in year-to-date sales. It’s the same story for the Avenger, which is up 102 percent over last year. Combined, the 200 and Avenger sold 13,708 units, enough to beat the Malibu.
