A new report suggests the 2013 Ford Mustang may receive a new LCD screen in its instrument cluster with special apps to monitor the car’s performance. StangTV claims the new Mustang display will show engine operating parameters and can measure performance statistics like 0-to-60-mph times.
The 4.2-inch color screen, which will reportedly slot between the tachometer and speedometer in the Mustang’s instrument cluster, resembles similar screens seen in other Ford products. On the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, for instance, the display can show the truck’s angle of approach and steering wheel angle.
StangTV says a dealer training poster revealed that available gauges on the Mustang’s display, called Track Apps, include monitors for the engine air/fuel ratio, oil pressure, coolant temperature, transmission temperature, and more. Other features will record eight- and quarter-mile times, and 0-60-mph and 0-100-mph runs.
