Escape Hybrid Specs: Engine, Gas Mileage, and More
An innovative 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain propels your new Ford Escape Hybrid SUV from Capital Ford of Wilmington. The four-cylinder gas engine and hybrid system (including the onboard battery and electric motors) work in tandem to generate a combined 192 horsepower. Instead of FWD or 4WD, the Escape Hybrid SUVs are fitted with an all-wheel-drive system featuring AWD disconnect, delivering all-road and all-weather capability and confidence on top of high marks in MPG.
Reaching the maximum EPA-estimated 42/36 MPG (City/Highway)1 rating is supported by an eCVT, or electronically controlled continuously variable transmission, which optimizes performance and efficiency at all speeds.

Why Buy or Lease a Ford Escape Hybrid Near Jacksonville, NC?
With four distinct powertrains available in the Escape lineup (including the 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter EcoBoost engines, 2.5-liter hybrid, and PHEV), you might be wondering which selection best suits your driving style and budget.
When building or searching for your preferred SUV among these trims, you'll notice that the hybrid engine features a lower starting MSRP than the even more potent 2.0-liter EcoBoost variants.
The Escape Hybrid elevates your drive with next-level efficiency, earning up to an EPA-estimated 42/36 MPG (City/Highway).1 Its 192-horsepower hybrid system compares favorably to the SUV's 1.5-liter EcoBoost turbo I-3 in both output and gas mileage, as the latter generates 180 horsepower and lower EPA-estimated ratings in both city and highway driving. The 2.0-liter EcoBoost is the most powerful of the bunch, rated at 250 horsepower and providing an even quicker 0-60 mph time than the responsive hybrid powertrain. Still, the turbocharged engine can't match the Escape Hybrid SUV's high fuel-economy ratings.
Like the Escape Hybrid, the new Ford Escape Plug-In Hybrid pairs electrification with a tried-and-true gas engine. Except this time, the Escape PHEV adds plug-in capabilities, giving you a limited all-electric range before switching back to the integrated full-hybrid system.
This comes back to our previous question: Why buy an Escape Hybrid over these other options?
With its standard all-wheel drive, 192 horsepower, and up to an EPA-estimated 42/36 MPG (City/Highway),1 this hybridized sport-ute is the complete package. It's fun, eco-friendly, and eager to take on varied terrain with its substantial ground clearance and road-holding AWD system.
